The Chickened Eagle - Essay
Hi All,
I wanted to try something a little different for this post. I want to tell a story I heard once through the form of an essay. Now, I know this is not poems and yes, it's different, but I feel the message of this story is related best in essay form.
I hope you enjoy it.

The Chickened Eagle - Essay
I was heard a story about a man who was walking on a path on his way home from work when he found an eagle's egg. The simple man picked up the egg and puts it in the nest of a backyard hen. Pretty soon the eagle hatches and grows up with the chicks, living all his life as a chicken, poking around in the dirt in search of worms and insects to eat, flying a few feet in the air and clucking around.
Just like a chicken...
But he was an eagle.
As time wore on, the eagle grew old and one day he saw something above him.
This thing it glided so majestically and gracefully through the clouds, it's wings almost making friends with the soft, crisp wind. It made a sharp and swift turn and flew like a king, commanding awe.
"What's that?" The eagle asked.
"Oh that? That there's an eagle." one chicken responds simply. "He is the king of the birds, the master and ruler of the endless skies, he belongs up high. But we... belong to the ground, because we... are just chickens. Don't worry about him. You can never be that."
And the eagle lived and died a chicken...
But he was an eagle
But he did not know it...
Now, I don't any of us out there would want to be a chicken, living low, on the ground and poke around for dust and worms. I think all of us would want to live an eagle. Living on high, soaring with the breeze, gliding gracefully throughout the storm...
But, we can't do that... Because we have not yet taken flight.
So...
Spread your wings. Take that one chance...
And soar.
Become YOUR eagle today.
