Come Home, Child - Poem
I think it comes as no surprise to my readers when I say that I absolutely love English-language songs. To me every word in these songs speak volumes of emotion and thought as each word is carefully chosen to bring forward timeless messages with the accompaniment of stunning musical arrangement. Think of MBD classics such as "Someday", "We Are One" or "Crack of Dawn". Each song delivers a different message with different lyrics and musical arrangements, but one component remains unchanged.
The soul and thought behind those lyrics of beloved classics.
This past Friday, I heard a brand-new song called "I Need You Now" which is sung by a new artist, Yosef Giniger, and written and composed by playwright and actress, Malky Giniger. The lyrics of the song are inspired by a young man who is struggling to find and feel a sense of G-dliness in his life, but yet he is searching for G-d and begging him to reveal the path in life which is best for him to follow, a path where G-d is guiding him.
The lyrics hit me hard and I began thinking about writing a poem about what G-d would say if he was searching for a way to be accepted and loved by us, his children.
Especially during the days of the Aseres Yemei Teshuva, and leading up to Yom Kippur.
Written below is the poem "Come Home, Child". I hope you enjoy it.

Come Home, Child - Poem
For to long, you've been away
From me,
Come home now,
It's you I want to see.
It is so lonely
Without you near
But I'm still waiting
Right over here
For many years, I've kept this door wide open
Just for you
But never did you arrive
Now what am I to do?
Please, just come home, child
Let me hold you, in my embrace
Child
Let me dry the tears, from your face.
Child,
With undying love, I wait
Child,
For to long, you've been away
From me,
Come home now,
It's you I want to see.
It is so lonely
Without you near
But I'm still waiting
Right over here
For many years, I've kept this door wide open
Just for you
But never did you arrive
Now what am I to do?
Please, just come home, child
Let me hold you, in my embrace
Child
Let me dry the tears, from your face.
Child,
With undying love, I wait
Child,
No, no, don't be afraid
It's never to late.
I know that in the past
We've disagreed
But time has moved on
Now, a new picture, a new scene
So, please come close,
And let me take your hand
Walking together
Please help me stand
For many years I've kept this door wide open
Just for you
But never did you arrive
Now what am I to do?...
Please, just come home, child
It's never to late.
I know that in the past
We've disagreed
But time has moved on
Now, a new picture, a new scene
So, please come close,
And let me take your hand
Walking together
Please help me stand
For many years I've kept this door wide open
Just for you
But never did you arrive
Now what am I to do?...
Please, just come home, child
Let me hold you, in my embrace
Child
Let me dry the tears, from your face.
Child,
With undying love, I wait
Child,
Child
Let me dry the tears, from your face.
Child,
With undying love, I wait
Child,
No, no, don't be afraid
It's never to late.
There always another chance to be great,
Dearest child.
It's never to late.
There always another chance to be great,
Dearest child.
