Fragile - Poem
About a month ago, Yehuda Lehrfield & Momo Ringo, two young men from the Mesivta of Waterbury in the United States, released a song under their yeshivas record label entitled "Fragile" which speaks about a young, sensitive man dealing with people belittling him and not believing in his dreams. Their senseless and mean comments really hurt him and found a way into his emotionally weak and fragile heart.
In this song this person, who could be anybody, pleads with his peers, to, as the key line in the song says,
"Don't step on me on your way out". He asks them to take care with their words and to build people with them, offering compliments and giving encouragement to others, and not using their power of speech to insult and criticize.
I was inspired by this song to write a poem based on it which I am sharing here.
I hope you find it enjoyable.

Fragile - Poem
Broken window,
Sharp edges,
Cracked glass,
A broken heart.
My heart is encased,
In a protective wall.
Yet sometimes,
Sharp words,
May break through.
My heart is so fragile,
And this protection is needed.
When you break it,
With the glass in your words,
An imprint of pain is left, my fragile heart
Falls apart.
A fragile heart,
Pained by words,
Spilling tears,
Potential, washed away.
Broken window,

Cracked glass,
A broken heart.
My heart is encased,

An imprint of pain is left, my fragile heart
Falls apart.
A fragile heart,
Pained by words,
Spilling tears,
Potential, washed away.
