Together Tonight - Poem

Sometimes, I find ideas for poems from the most interesting of places, yet, as I have often said, music and songs are one of the most common places I find the inspiration to write. But sometimes, even the song takes time to resonate, as it happened in this case.

One evening, I had decided to play some music with the settings on shuffle while I was relaxing. At one point Beri Weber's song "Yachad" (Together) came on. For some reason despite hearing this song countless times before, this time the chorus and fun up-tempo beat, struck me with inspiration. I immediately decided to put my thoughts out in rhyme and rhythm and today I share with you.

Together Tonight - Poem
Why, oh why,
Must we be apart,
In a world that works as one?
Why, oh why,
Must we break away,
In a world where the moon works with the sun?

Let’s come together,
Bring the world a little closer,
Turn the music higher.
Let’s dance together,
Move towards redemption,
Tonight, we are together.

As the stars shine tonight, together,
We dance as one,
In the city streets.
We join hands,
We raise our voice,
Let our souls move to the beat.
Unity, all around the world,
In every corner, we are a family,
As one, we can never be broken,
Celebrating, like it’s meant to be.

Yes today, oh today,
We’ve made our mark,
And now we reap our reward.

We celebrate,
Like we’ve never done before.

As a family,
The music, we hear,
Makes us dance all night.
As a family,
We feel the beat,
Dancing as one, what a sight.
