Diamonds on the Road - Poem

Recently, a friend of mine suggested the concept of "Diamonds on the Road" as an idea for a poem. After a small discussion trying to develop and strengthen the concept, I felt like we had put together some really good ideas and so all we had to do was to let these ideas piece themselves together and soon, I'll find a way to write the poem properly.

One of the concepts I am basing this poem on has to do with a song by the popular Hasidic band 8th Day, called "I'm Sticking Around" which discusses a Jews commitment and love for the Torah, even when sometimes the world turns to other interests, a Jew always loves his Torah.

Now, I am ready to finally present to you the poem titled "Diamonds on the Road". I hope you like it!

Diamonds on the Road - Poem
I'm walking down the road
Going about my day
When suddenly I notice
Something in my way

Other people pass
It's beauty they don't see
But I pick it up,
And I hold it near to me

Diamonds on the road
Are there to be taken
If you don't want it
Then, my friend, you're mistaken
If the Torah is compared to these gems
How can you not want
Any of them
Torah, is a diamond
It' brings you closer
To Hashem

Sitting by
My candle at night
The words on this scroll, they shine
What a sight!
While they party, spread thousand lies
These holy words
They light up my eyes
