Just Simply, Love - Poem

When this poem goes live on the blog, it will be exactly one month since my cousins suffered a tremendous loss, when their mother/wife/daughter passed away at the young age of 33. The entire Antwerp Jewish community, where they live and beyond was shocked and saddened by the news. She was in need of a refuah, after some difficulties at birth, and everyone was praying for her recovery. Unfortunately, it was not to be that she would recover.

I, personally was very sad and upset. I was hurt because I was hoping to hear good news about the young mothers situation, and like everyone, I was also praying for her recovery. It was very upsetting, genuinely, when I heard she passed away.

What is strange is, that the night before she passed, I wrote a poem, about how Hashem, is always caring for His nation, even during hard and difficult times. He is there, holding our hand, silently guiding us behind the dark clouds. He is whispering to us, encouraging us, motivating and sometimes, comforting us, when things are to difficult. When I read this poem out the next day to my teacher, I felt as though Hashem, had silently guided my hand in writing it, as a way of telling me, that "although things will not turn out the way you hoped, I am still there and I still love you so much"

May this poem be a source of comfort to the family as well as, a aliyah for the pure and holy neshama of Malka bas Chaim Meshulam Zishe.

Best Wishes,

Just Simply, Love - Poem

When the world is dark
And the shadows spread wide
When the tears keep falling,
From my eyes
I look up to You
I pray to You
I talk to You
And You reply

You’re always here with me
Even though You can’t be seen
I feel Your presence near
To me it is so clear
No matter what goes on
If ever, life changes it’s song
Your music always plays
Through the rain and the rays

The darkness can try
To spread so wide
But Your loving light
Will always be there to guide
It helps me see
Deep inside of me
And helps me become
Who I can be

When my heart is cold
And the shivers to strong
And I don’t feel
Like I belong
When the nightmares arrive
And scares me so
I know there is only
One place to go

You always show me love
From high up above
Showing me the way
I should travel today
I know Your judgments are fair
Cause I know You always care
And I could call out from there
From simply anywhere

The darkness can try
To spread so wide
But Your loving light
Will always be there to guide
It helps me see
Deep inside of me
And helps me become
Who I can be

Whenever I am about to fall
I raise my voice in a call
Need Your hand to reach out
Pull me up to the clouds
Want to feel Your embrace
Want to find my place
I want to hear Your voice
Cutting through this noise

The darkness can try
To spread so wide
But Your loving light
Will always be there to guide
It helps me see
Deep inside of me
And helps me become
Who I can be
