Hope in the Light, Fear in the Dark - Poem
I am not perfect. Neither are any of my readers, or for that matter, any single person on this earth. Mistakes, big or small, are a part of life whether we like it or not and although we obviously can't avoid the blunders sometimes with the right mindset, when they occur, we can learn and grow from them.
But sometimes we could consider our mistakes a disruption, a bump in the road, and we can get upset with ourselves and think we are "a failure" because we are embarrassed by our lack of awareness witch prompted our misdeed, or simply, sometimes, embarrassed due to the fact that despite knowing we could avoid making our mistake, we still stumbled and fell.
Having a negative mindset and a negative outlook on our failings, is something that all of us, including me, are trying our best to work on and improve. It is not easy, but we will succeed in time, if we try the best we can.
Recently, I wrote a poem which discusses the points of making mistakes, stumbling and being embarrassed to face our wrongdoings, due to fear or anxiety. The message I believe I took from writing this poem, is that we must always try to believe in our capabilities to return to the "top of the mountain" as it were and also to remember that G-d values the effort we put in to our actions even when we fall and have to try again.
I hope you like the finished result,

Towards your holy light,
Need to feel the warmth of your soft embrace,
Want you to hold,
Onto my cold, frozen hand,
Need to let the ice thaw away sitting in your space.
Getting closer as time goes by,
Dodging the rocks and the sharp spikes,
But suddenly I notice,
I am falling down, way down into the darkness.
I can’t believe what I’ve done,
I just want to get up and run,
I can’t face it,
No, not yet,
I want to turn and look away,
So scared of my mistakes,
I’m to afraid to fall,
To afraid to lose it all.
Waking up,
Staring up high again at your throne,
I want to forget everything and start again,
But my terror,
Holds me firm in place,
Trapping my heart and refusing to let my soul ascend.
But I forget my doubts,
And start climb high to the clouds,
But suddenly I notice,
I am falling down, way down into the darkness.
I can’t believe what I’ve done,
I just want to get up and run,
I can’t face it,
No, not yet,
I want to turn and look away,
So scared of my mistakes,
I’m too afraid to fall,
To afraid to lose it all.
