Chords of Life, Chords of Song - Psalms Chapter 2 - Tehilim Poetry

It is time to continue the journey of producing a poem for every perek of Tehillim. We are now up to Perek Beis (Perek 2), in which, when learning its translation, the verse that stuck out to me was the third verse where King David states "נְֽ֭נַתְּקָה אֶת־מֽוֹסְרוֹתֵ֑ימוֹ וְנַשְׁלִ֖יכָה מִמֶּ֣נּוּ עֲבֹתֵֽימוֹ", which translates to ""Let us break their bands and cast off their chords from us." This gave rise to many concepts that I tried working with but in the end the one I chose was this one.

Based off the usage of the word "chords" - which here means ropes - I began thinking of chords in music and how they give foundation, and a base for the rest of the instruments to be able to play within the correct beat and rhythm. It is very crucial for those chord instruments to be recorded and played correctly as that they will provide a strong, tuneful foundation and all the other instruments, will be able to be played with ease and calmness.

It is very much the same in life. When one attaches themselves to the strong, well learned, wise people around them, they become inspired be their mentors ways and try to emulate them, which gives the tune of their life, more power and beauty.

This could of course, also work in the negative, too. When a person hangs around with bad friends, unsettled and rowdy people, his personality and morals will be
compromised, leaving him unable to play his beautiful music with the appropriate chords, or in the correct tune.

It is only when the chords are strong, that the music is powerful.

I hope you enjoy the poem,

Chords of Life, Chords of Song - Psalms Chapter 2 - Tehilim Poetry

Chords give strength to music,
They give power to song,
But, those chords can only do so,
When they, themselves, are strong.

If the chords, tremble, snap, or become weak,
Music will struggle to play, or entirely cease,
So, be strong, they must,
So your soul can connect to the tune and find peace.

In the same way, one must not connect his chords,
To weak foundations or uneven pillars,
One must connect, rather, to loving, kind, heroes,
Not, devious, wicked villains.

For only as a team, can music be made sweet,
Without unity, the song is but tone-deaf,
So tighten your chords, with feeling play your music,
And than, only, will your tune, sound it’s best
