The Noises of Life, The Call of G-d - Poem

Life is full of many chapters, some long, some short, some difficult to read  and some pleasant. But one thing each chapter has in common, is the Divine will of the Creator, that directs the position and use of each letter, sentence, or word in the chapter. It emanates and is visible throughout every page, every turn and tear and of course, throughout each experience and recorded incident.

But within the background of the reading and unfolding of the situations one encounters in his edition of the Book of Life, there is a lot of noise, distractions and temptations, trying to stop us from reading each chapter and finding G-ds will within it. So in order to focus wholeheartedly, sometimes, we must tune out those noises, isolate ourselves from the others around us and allow G-ds existence and guiding light to be seen.

This poem tries to capture that feeling of blocking out the noise to hear the calling of G-d. It is loosely based upon an old idea of mine, which I have not yet written and expanded on. However, I hope you enjoy the reading of the poem and that its soft, simple message is clear to you.

May you all be blessed with a enjoyable Shabbos,

The Noises of Life, The Call of G-d - Poem
Cars driving by, at speeds so fast,
People talking, voices of deceit I can hear,
Criticism yells at me, and negativity bullies me,
It is almost too much to bear.

When the rain falls mercilessly down,
And the sun taunts me behind the dark clouds,
When the pull of sin, slyly inches me forwards,
All I want to do is block out the sound.

So, I take a breath, release the tension,
Take myself into a world of my own,
Drown away the noise, the ear-splitting shouts,
To hear the soft, loving call of Hashem, only Him, His call alone.

His voice doesn’t cause me to stress,
But rather, I am at peace,
G-d’s voice is not noise, rather it is the quiet call of love,
That truly allows the soul to be released.
