The Unbreakable Shield of G-d - Psalms Chapter 3 - Tehillim Poetry

I am very excited for this poem. It is the third entry into the "Tehillim Poetry" series and we of course are focusing on the third perek of Tehillim. Before sitting down to create this one, I know that I wanted to create something around the pereks third verse, however after learning the translation of the full perek, a concept for the fourth verse seemed like a better choice.

The fourth verse is when King David is praising G-d by saying "וְאַתָּ֣ה יְ֭-הֹ-וָ-ה מָגֵ֣ן בַּעֲדִ֑י כְּ֝בוֹדִ֗י וּמֵרִ֥ים רֹאשִֽׁי", which translates to "But You, O L-RD, are a shield about me, my glory, He who holds my head high." When reading and learning the translation of that verse, I felt that there indeed was something unique and special with those words that I could try and capture, which, of course, I hope I did.

I wish you a great week ahead with all the blessings from above,

Your Friend,

The Unbreakable Shield of G-d - Psalms Chapter 3 - Tehillim Poetry

Waging wars out in the cold,
Evil has his hand on my throat,
If my breath is given by G-d, so is my salvation,
It is for this that I now hope.

I fight for His name,
For His oneness to be known,
He is my general, I am his soldier,
I fight for His strength to be shown.

He is my shield, my armor and gear,
He is never far from me, if I keep Him near,
I know everything is His, He has given my gifts to me,
For me to be able to serve him just as I am meant to be.
I can only do that,
If he continues to provide,
Oh, He does, when I look around,
I see His signature on the book that details my life.

So, as this battle rages on,
I try to fight with all my heart,
Evil smiles, he thinks he is winning,
But, oh, now the real showdown starts,
You see, he has His strength,
Limited by physicality,
But I have G-d on my side,
To measure His powers… you must be crazy!
