The Windshield - Poem

I recently heard this amazing quote about moving forward and not allowing the insecurities of our past mistakes and misdeeds to hold us back and dissuade us from becoming better people and achieving our goals.

The quote was,

"The windshield is bigger then the rear-view mirror for a reason, because whats in front of you is so much more important than whats behind you".

That quote is so true. We always tell others and ourselves that we should not worry about failing and falling, but just keep on moving forward, despite the hiccups and challenges. We always encourage ourselves to not look back at the previous failed attempts we made to achieve our mission and goals, no matter the number of times we've failed, be it once, twice, thrice or a thousand times.

Yes, we tell it to ourselves all the time. It is so important. But it is so hard to do, sometimes. There are occasions where we feel as though we want to give up, leave our dreams to dust and find another calling. But, what we fail to realise is that through a positive mindset and a couple helpings of prayer and self-belief, our dreams are, quite literally, waiting for us up ahead on the road.

All we have to do, is look forward, through the windshield - which if you remember is bigger then the rear-view mirror - and drive our cars on towards our dreams.

(Do you get the joke? Because the windshield is part of the car and the car drives on the road...? yeah okay, that is enough. there is a reason I put this in brackets anyways).

I hope you enjoy the poem,

Have a great week,

The Windshield -Poem

You have conquered,

You have overcome,

You have battled,

You have risen back up.

You have demolished the walls,

Broken through the barriers they set,

Rose up to the challenge,

Alongside the goals you met.

Life is a drive along your roads,

With twists and turns, floods and fire,

All you need is to believe in yourself,

Than you ride up the hills that seems highest.

In your car, after driving past a problem,

Don't live with that old tension,

Look forward and keep driving on,

Because the windshield is bigger then the review mirror for a reason.

When you are driving,

That which is in front of you,

Is so much more important,

Than what's behind you.

Because looking to reverse,

While driving forward onto dawn,

Is a recipe for accidents,

The likes of which tastes of dreams torn.

Yes, you must allow your mistakes to be a teacher,

But once the lesson is learnt,

There is no point again

In getting hurt,

If you let your past teach you,

It must not define you,

Because looking back at mistakes,

Is not what those driving forward do.
