Torah, the Flame of Life - Poem
Just before Chanukah I released a poem called "Torah, the Eternal" which was inspired from my attendance of the Dirshu Siyum in London. Today, I share with you a new poem, "Torah, the Flame of Life" which was inspired by a personal milestone of mine, which I will share.
I have been learning Mishnayos Shabbos, with a very dear friend of mine for about two years now and on Chanukah, we completed the mesechta. We had been very excited to achieve this goal for a quite some time and finally tasted the success of reaching that target on Chanukah.
Now, this past Sunday, 12th Teves, (Junary 12th) I was previewed to host a Siyum in my home, alongside my chavrusa, my family and some very dear friends. I also shared some special thoughts, which for personal reasons, I will not be sharing on the blog. However, I still wanted to share something, so I wrote a poem, as another special way to remember this great accomplishment.
I hope you enjoy the poem and I wish you a great week,
All the best,
Yitzy Schweitzer
Only with embers does it start,
Before taking hold, warming the soul with grace,
Its the flame of Torah, creating for itself a space.
Within every heart is burns, hoping to give warmth,
Throughout the good days and the challenges, it remains pure,
Never losing its hold, always like a dear friend,
Torah is eternal, from times first second until the end,
Torah has been a guardian, a protector,
For Torah is the word of HaShem the Al-mighty master,
It's a gift He has given, for us to learn what we can,
Every word of Torah, reminds us of His masterplan.
So, for just five minutes, warm your heart,
Ignite the embers until they are sparks,
Then keep learning, until sparks turn to flame,
It’s coming soon, the day the whole word will know His name.
