Everything and the Ocean - Subscriber Poetry Inspiration 2024-25 Poem 10

 Well, it's subscriber poem time!

For this months' piece, I reached out to a very dear subscriber who sent me an idea about the sea, or ocean. I was given a couple avenues with which to utilize and navigate the concept, such as nature and the ocean's natural brilliance and beauty, or to write something more from a "life experience" kind of perspective.

I tried to connect a bit of every concept together, hoping to create something unique, special and meaningful that fit within the realms of the concept I had been sent.

I hope you enjoy the poem.

All the best,

Your Friend,

Yitzy Schweitzer

Everything and the Ocean - Subscriber Poetry Inspiration 2024-25 Poem 10

As night falls on the city,
Somewhere away from the chaos I stand,
Looking at the ocean, out on to the horizon,
Admiring the work, the might of G-ds hand.

Life is learnt out from many forces of nature,
Yet for now, we look at the sea,
Let's understand how elements of our lives,
Connect to the waters that surround you and me.

To start, I'd say, is the emotions,
For at times the sea is serene,
Yet, at intervals, at other times,
It rages, drowns, is angry, and mean.

Second, besides fir the emotions,
Is the wavelength, the speed, the rhythm of life,
For at times our days are calm and beautiful,
But, then there are moments of hurt, pain, anger and strife.

But see, the ocean is more than just emotions and wavelength,
It holds hope, It holds wonder, it holds life,
It is a reflection of the blue skies,
It is a reflection of the grey, the dark, the night.

The ocean is tears of joy
The ocean is tears of pain,
The ocean is the seemingly endless heartbreak
It is the forever of a loving embrace.

The ocean holds so much,
Just like the human heart and soul,
It holds eternity, yet every individual moment,
It holds everything, the quiet, the loud, the great the small.

What's in your ocean,
Is there waves, calmness, ripples, storms,
Is there peace, tranquility, rushes, or slowness,
Is there a loving tear, so innocent and pure?
