Return of the Faithful and Loyal - Psalms Chapter 12 - Tehilim Poetry

We return for this week to the Tehilim Poetry segment and this time we are up to perek twelve. This perek had nine verses to choose from, nine verses of inspiration, yet already from the beginning of my time learning the translation of the perek, I knew that the second verse of this chapter, was the one I would work with as the baseline. The ambiguity and open-ended nature of this verse allowed the wheels and cogs to turn, allowed the words to land on the page and helped me develop a piece that was unique and simple.

That chosen second verse says: "הוֹשִׁ֣יעָה יְ֭-הֹ-וָ-ה כִּֽי־גָמַ֣ר חָסִ֑יד כִּי־פַ֥סּוּ אֱ֝מוּנִ֗ים מִבְּנֵ֥י אָדָֽם", which translates to:
"Help, O L-RD!, for the faithful are no more; the loyal have vanished from among men."

I took that verse to mean that when everything appears dark and gloomy, when the righteous have mislead and misguided to go far from G-ds glory, when the faithful lose their faith and desire, we still keep them in our thoughts, hearts and prayers, as we hope and understand that only the Al-mighty can awaken their inner being to return to His light, His majesty and love.

I hope you enjoy what I came up with.

Have a great week ahead and easy, meaningful fast this Sunday (if you are reading this after Sunday, I hope the fast went easy).

All the very best,

Your friend,

Yitzy Schweitzer

Return of the Faithful and Loyal - Psalms Chapter 12 - Tehilim Poetry

As the world begins to stumble,
As the dust rises, creating darkness,
A cry is heard for the lost souls,
For they have gotten lost in all the foulness.

Tricked by those who mislead,
Guided by those who let them wander,
Spoken to by the tounges of hate and dishonesty,
Their minds, they warp, their hearts they shatter.

We turn to You, Al-mighty G-d,
For only You can guide those who seem so far,
When the faithful lose their way,
You guide them to Your light, to become numerous, like the stats,

When those who are loyal are misguided,
When evil finds and takes prisoner the pure,
Their souls call out, from beyond eternity,
A spark ignites, a flame is refueld, the blessings rain, as those lost return through the door
