Sukkah Moments - Subscriber Poetry Inspiration 2025-26 Poem 1
Oh yes, it is time to restart the "Subscriber Poetry Inspiration" segment. Time to rewind the numbers back to 1 and see what Hashem has blessed me to write based on the suggestions of my subscribers.
Well, if memory serves me well, I remember a recent discussion I had with one of those very dear and wonderful subscriber fellows and in the course of said conversation he suggested to write a poem about the joys of Yom Tov. I believe I told him, I will indeed try to write one and I'll share it in time for Sukkos.
So, I did write it. I tried to capture as much joy and happiness as I could into the stanzas and lines of the poem and I hope I did the concept justice.
You will be receiving this poem on Chol HaMoed Sukkos, at which point I hope that the Yom Tov would have been a wonderfully joyous and uplifting experience. I want to wish you a continued enjoyment of the Yom Tov and bless you with much success and goodness throughout it.
I hope you enjoy the poem.
Best of all good wishes to you,
Yitzy Schweitzer
Surrounded by the embrace of G-d,
A warmth you can't really explain,
There is just something special about sitting in the sukkah,
Something special about doing His will, sanctifying His name
Seeing the decoration on the wall,
Bamboo sticks on the roof,
Looking up at the sky, seeing the stars,
Knowing G-d is looking down, smiling at you.
How could you not be happy?
How could you not rejoice?
You are the chosen one, to fulfill His command,
Let me hear you make some noise.
Despite the late hours,
Still from outside the hut, I hear you sing.
Songs of praise, of joy, of hope, and grace
Songs for Him, songs from your heart, so rich and full of yearning.
Sing once more,
One more song tonight,
Bring a little more energy into the room,
Just another dusting of light.
Can you see Him smile,
Do you know how much you've achieved,
Just by doing the mitzvah with joy,
Just by doing one good deed.
Enjoy every moment of this mitzvah,
The sukkah loves your presence so,
Understand the light you have inside your heart,
Let it out into the world, into the sukkah, just let it go.
