Echoes of the Soul - Poem

For those who remember, back in January and April of this year, I shared that I had produced video presentations for my poems "The Golden Hour" and "The Mountains Won't Remember Me". I produced them for my "Echoes of the Soul" project, where I make Jewish Music Lyric Videos and share them online.

Well, on December 4th, that "Echoes of the Soul" project of mine turned a year old and in simple celebration I wanted to share a poem I wrote, also titled "Echoes of the Soul", in which I explain what the titular expression means to me. I try to paint an understanding of the soft, silent, whispers of the past and the echoes of the memories and music from long ago.

I hope you enjoy the poem.

All the best,

Your friend,

Echoes of the Soul - Poem

When the voices have gone quiet,
But the whispers still are felt,
When the sounds have faded,
But the music still inspires, still connects us to Hashem.

Those whisperings and low notes of song,
Are but the purest sounds of all,
They are the cries of the Neshama,
The Echoes of the Soul.

When the shul is quiet at the late hours,
When the world is but all at rest,
When you see the lone candle still burning,
That's the time to hear it best.

The candle, the Aish Tamid,
Burns for all of the eternal,
It's a promise, a soft, quiet promise of Hashem,
Felt within the stillness of the Echoes of our Souls.

The music never truly fades away,
The songs never really go silent,
For they live on the Echo,
In the stillness, in the truest depth.

The candle will never be extinguished,
The flame shall bring a light of all time,
Felt throughout the world and beyond,
As the Echoes are still heard, so the flame still shines.
