Love Tomorrow? - Poem

Just this morning, I was browsing through my recent archive of poems I wrote within the last two weeks, when my friend posted this quote on his status which read,
"Your focus on hating yesterday, is killing your opportunity to love tomorrow".

Now I thought that was quite a nice little expression and asked myself if it could work within a poem setting. As I was thinking that, Hashem sent me a spoonful of his grace and allowed those wonderful cogs of lyricism to begin to turn.

Within just a couple of minutes, the poem was complete. Titled "Love Tomorrow?" with a question mark, to represent the personal choice each one of us have to stay down or pick ourselves up after a bad day, I tried to make it a calming, soft, almost light-hearted piece, beginning with some acknowledgement of the fact that yes one person had stumbled and fumbled at yesterday, than painting throughout the middle and ending point of the poem, some encouragement and support to let the person know that it's okay to fall, for one must try and get up and keeping walking towards his or her unique greatness.

I hope you enjoy the reading of the piece.

Have an amazing week ahead,

Your friend,

Love Tomorrow? - Poem You slipped yesterday, you stumbled,
You wish the previous day was just a dream,
But you woke up today, still that bitterness remains,
Yesterday, the day you fell and strumbled, is now a memory.

The pain, the embarrassment follows you,
Like a taunt in your ears, it seems to be,
Your mod is low, the spirit of a new day has dwindled,
Is today just yesterday, but on repeat?

But, realize this, dear friend,
Understand please, if you can, this you must know,
Your focus on hating yesterday, the yesterday that was,
Is killing your opportunity to love tomorrow.

True, you fell, you stumbled,
Life let you roll down the hill,
But you got back up, the slate is clean,
What happens today, is up to your will.

You can live and shrink in the past,
Wallowing in the misery of a mistake that may not mean much later,
Or, dust of the debris of the fall,
Get re-energized and begin walking towards the YOU that is going to be greater!

I’ll be waiting for you, cheering you on,
As I encourage you to make the right choice,
When you reach the top of your day, I’ll dance with you.
Come on, my son, let’s get going, let’s make some good noise!
