A Man of Righteousness – Psalms Chapter 15 – Tehilim Poetry

It's time to return to our Tehilim Poetry series. Since we are up to Perek or Chapter 15, this is the one we are writing about. Join me, if you please.

The verse that stuck out to me in this perek was the following one:"הוֹלֵ֣ךְ תָּ֭מִים וּפֹעֵ֥ל צֶ֑דֶק וְדֹבֵ֥ר אֱ֝מֶ֗ת בִּלְבָבֽוֹ" which translates to, "He who walks uprightly and works righteousness and speaks truth in his heart."

These words and pretty much the rest - and the entirety - of the perek helped to develop the concept for this poem. I based the poem around the tent that David Hamelech mentions in the first verse as he asks, "Who will sojourn in Your tent, who will dwell upon Your holy mount?" I wrote about a man who would sit within this tent. Someone who is kind, who speaks no bad word against his fellow, supports and deeply respects those who study Torah and tried to incorporate every mention that David Hamelech makes about a righteous man who would sit within this holy tent of G-d.

A Man of Righteousness – Psalms Chapter 15 – Tehilim Poetry

In the heavens, there is a small little tent,
A haven of inner peace eternal serenity,
Only few do sit within this abode,
A very select few, from our history.

Who is this man?
Who can sit within this tent of G-d?
Who is worthy to be chosen?
For this reward that only some ever got?

A man of righteousness, who walks upright and true,
Who speaks the honest word from his heart,
Did not slander, did no harm, did not take up reproach,
He is the man who takes this part.

Evil and arrogance is but shameful to him,
Yet he honours the G-d fearing ones,
He keeps an oath despite the hurt, gives money without condition or claim,
He who takes no bribe against the innocent, is a man of G-d.

A man like this, is one who deserves,
To sit within this tent we speak of,
A man who is pure of heart and soul,
Is a man who sits within the shade of the Divine, above.
