The Singing River: Droplets of Song - Poem

If you were asked by someone to describe a river in about ten words, which words would you pick out as your top two? What might the reason be for you choosing those words? What is it about those two words that inspired you to pick them as your top two?

For me, my top two would be, serene and night. The reason behind this choice is because, I enjoy looking at rivers that are calmly flowing around and I also love pictures of rivers at night.

About a week ago, I had an idea to write a poem based on the concept of a river at night. This river is situated in beautiful forest and as it flows around it sings a little tune to itself. While the river sings, there is a waterfall somewhere in the distance which sings the same tune on a slightly higher note and key. Combining together they form a magical symphony of love, joy and peace.

Here is that poem!

I hope you like it,

The Singing River: Droplets of Song - Poem

In the forest at night
A river flows
Calm and serene
With its little tune it goes
The waterfall sings
In the distance, a melody
Combining together
To form the greatest natural symphony

Take me with you, oh dear river
Let me ride with you tonight
Take me on a journey
Let me see the sights
Take me with you, little river
On the bank and round the bends
Feeling a joyous sensation
Becoming natures friend

As the animals sleep
They dream of the river below
They hum as they dream
Notes, high and low
Their song is so peaceful
Full of joy and delight
It’s carried them through
The splendid night
