Fragments of the Heart - Poem
I was recently designing a graphic piece involving a heart shape up against a colourful smokey backdrop with various explosion particles floating around on the canvas. This was done based off the concept "Fragments of the Heart", the idea being that sometimes in life, the world around us is bursting with colour and joy, while we may sit on the sidelines, broken, dejected...
The fragments of our hearts need to be picked up and gently placed back together.
After designing the piece, I felt I had the visual concept to produce the poem based off this great expression, "Fragments of the Heart".
I hope you find it enjoyable,

Fragments of the Heart - Poem
The world is in full swing all around me,
So much joy,
Everyone is happy.
But what about me?
I sit alone,
On the other side,
Watching, through teary eyes,
The celebration...
I want to join in with them,
But I can't get up to dance,
I can't bring myself to paint a fake smile
When that is so unreal.
If only my heart,
Would be whole again.
The little fragments placed back in place,
Where they belong.
These fragments are scattered,
Many pieces, in countless places.
I can't pick them all up
By myself...
Please help me pick up
The fragments of my little broken heart...
So much joy,
Everyone is happy.
But what about me?
I sit alone,
On the other side,
Watching, through teary eyes,
The celebration...
I want to join in with them,
But I can't get up to dance,
I can't bring myself to paint a fake smile
When that is so unreal.
If only my heart,
Would be whole again.
The little fragments placed back in place,
Where they belong.
These fragments are scattered,
Many pieces, in countless places.
I can't pick them all up
By myself...
Please help me pick up
The fragments of my little broken heart...
