Please, Have Mercy - Poem

Recently, Yonatan Shainfeld, the popular Israeli singer released a new song entitled "Ulay Yachos" (Perhaps He Will Pity), where the words talk of the Jewish People coming and begging that G-d grant them an opportunity for forgiveness during the time of year of the High Holidays.

The songs lyrics go as follows
"They shout in prayer and plead for permission... perhaps he will have mercy..."

The line of "perhaps he will have mercy" is the one that sticks out the me the most as it is the line that perfectly describes the genuinely real, raw and ultimately, indescribable love between G-d and his dear Jewish nation. I decided to try and pen my thoughts into a small, little poem that I am sharing here.

I hope you find it enjoyable,

Please, Have Mercy - Poem

In a harsh, senseless world,
Where pain carelessly hurts us,
Please, please,
Have mercy.

Protect us from harm
Keep us safe,
Please, please,
Have mercy.

When the waters drown us
And there is no space left to breathe
Please, please
Have mercy.

When the fire scars,
Inside of providing warmth
Please, please
Have mercy

Embrace us now
Dismiss us from our enemies
Please, please
Have mercy.

Stretch out your hand
Let us hold on to it
Please, please
Have mercy.

Let the sun shine once again
Let the flowers sway and bloom
Please, please
Have mercy

The city of our dreams,
Please, let us see it,
Please, please,
Have mercy
