Teenage Perspective Poem: Mystery in the Mind

Recently, I was having a conversation with my teacher about the importance of teenagers having a trustworthy and understanding person in their life. Because those teenage years are so complicated and full of many doubts, struggles and questions it is vital for teens have somebody trustworthy so they can get the rights understanding and perspective that best helps them.

But the trouble is, not every teen has that special someone. Many of them struggle and do not know where to turn. They want to share their questions with someone to receive the best answers. But there is nobody who is willing to stop. Listen to the questions. Answer them. Show these teenagers real genuine love and care.

After that conversation I sat down to write a poem which describes the mindset of a teenager through the lens of a busy street. It is my great honor to share it with you here.

I hope you find it enjoyable,

Teenage Perspective Poem: Mystery in the Mind

I sit in the street
I look around me
Accidents, on one side,
On the other side, people look out their windows
As they drive away, without a care in the world.

Meanwhile, these exact events,
Are taking place in my brain
One side, calm, loving, gentle
The other side, conflict, questions, surging emotions.

I need the answers,
But nobody cares to listen to my question
I need to ask these questions
But everybody just drives on, impatiently

Sitting on the sidewalk, I wonder
Is there someone out there,
Who will accept me, listen to me,
Is there someone who cares… about me?
