Afraid of the Climb - Poem

Earlier this week, Dovid Pearlman, a popular singer and songwriter, released a song called "Afraid of Flying" in which he encourages the listener not to be scared of taking a chance on their dreams. The beautiful lyrics, written by Chayala Neuhaus, convey this message in hopeful, soft, dreamy yet elegant way which blends in seamlessly with the arrangement.

After listening to the song a couple times, I had an idea to write my own version based on those enchanting lyrics. I am proud and excited to present it here and I hope you enjoy it.

Afraid of the Climb - Poem

I know the mountains peak looks pretty high
Reaching in to the clouds, and beyond
Too daunting a sight
And I know inside you are wondering
Will you ever succeed?
But a little bit of courage
Is all you need

Send a prayer to Hashem
To watch over you
Ask him to send his angles
To help guide you
And then take a step towards the stones
And begin your quest
Cause this journey will reveal only your best

You don’t have to be afraid of the climb
You don’t have be afraid of the height
You don’t have to be afraid of feeling like
You cannot move on.
You don’t have to give in to your doubts
Use your music to tune them out
No matter if you stumble, if you fall
You’ll learn from your mistakes
And you will move right along

Keep pushing as hard you can
Cause g-d is right behind you
He is your biggest fan
If you need a little encouragement
Just look to the sky
G-d will answer you
He will help you fly
