For You - Poem

Throughout our lives we are constantly told to believe that everything comes from a divine source and that everything that happens to us is orchestrated by G-d. This belief is imparted to us at a young age, however, at times we can find ourselves questioning this belief, and trying to find the ways in which we as our own individual people relate to the world around us and to the glory of the Maker of Everything who we know and love.

I recently had the idea to write a poem about a young man who is struggling in his life and really wants to feel that G-d is always with him. So he writes a letter to G-d begging him to reveal his glory to him and help him navigate the roads of sorrow eventually to emerge on to the pathway of greatness and happiness.

I've spent my days
Going to every place
Looking in so many ways
For You
You.

Been hoping to be
A witness to your majesty
It's only You
Only You

I've been searching for so long
Trying to write the notes to my song
Trying to put the pieces where they belong
Finding out I've placed it wrong

Now I am lost once again
In the dark without a friend
Looking for You
You

Wishing I could find
Something to give me piece of mind
And it's You
It's only You.
