Friends Are Forever - Poem
It is my humble honor to share this poem with you now but before I do, let me just offer you a little thought:
"Friendships" contains the word "Ships" in it for two reasons. Firstly, because a ship sails through various types of waters, be it calm or stormy, and sometimes it must fight with the waves to survive. In the same way true friendships will battle the storm of life and emerge. As one.
Secondly, the plural addition to the word "Ships" means that a true friendship can only exist when two hearts are sailing together. If a ship sails without it's crew, it will easily get lost. When the crew is there to guide it, it will stay aligned to the destination. Same with a friendship. If a friend sails alone, he will get lost quicker than he would if he would sail together.
I hope you enjoy reading this poem,
Yitzy Schweitzer
Many days have passed, since we spoke
Those summer moments, the winter’s cold
Man, how I miss those times of old
All the laughter all the smiles
Many seconds that last a while
Yet, there is a part of our story that has not been told
Although time has passed, things have changed
Some things just will always remain the same
We may have gone each of us our separate way
But, friends are forever, so in my heart you’ll stay
I still remember all those days
Yet, now, there are missing sentences on the page
Our story, still not complete
In our hearts, will stay together
Bonded now ‘till forever
With memories, oh so sweet
Although time has passed, things have changed
Some things just will always remain the same
We may have gone each of us our separate way
But, friends are forever, so in my heart you’ll stay
I hope you remember, those memories
as fond as I do
I hope you smile, thinking of me and you
Those times you held my hand
And when you’d help me stand
Oh, don’t you miss those days?
Some things just will always remain the same
We may have gone each of us our separate way
But, friends are forever, so in my heart you’ll stay
