Peace & Harmony - Poem
Earlier this week, my teacher gave me an idea for a poem based on the prompt of "Choirs & Harmony". After some thought, I came up with the idea to connect those two elements with the concept of "Peace" based on the famous expression about living in a world full of "Peace and Harmony", which is what we all hope to see happen with all people and countries, but, of course, based on current world events, with Russia and Ukraine. May it be true very soon indeed.
An additional idea that occurred to me while writing this poem is that, in a song, harmony is something achieved through two people signing the same song in a different key.. While, of course, a singer can create a mix of harmonies with his own voice rising higher or lower in key, most of the time "Background Vocals" or harmonies are achieved with two people...
Hence, it is only when we create peace with our fellow people, we can then create the truest of harmonies. Together.

So many days pass in a blur,
Differences and arguments keep us apart,
Instead of fond memories,
Comes the ferocious war of words,
Screams and shouts that deafen the silent, soft song of peace.
Instead of fighting and keeping to ourselves,
Why don't we try to make amends?
Instead of raising our voices in anger,
Should we not sing in perfect harmony?
Two voices, each one of a kind,
Blend to create a tune of the ages,
Victory achieved through the power of harmony,
Instead of failing, falling down to the senseless hate of our enemy.
Two voices, one tune,
Harmonizing a hundred notes,
In a song that will last forever
