Stones of Success - Poem

"One who moves a mountain must start by moving small stones"

This expression is the backbone and inspiration for the poem written below. I am sure most of you know what the term "moving mountains" means. Well, if you don't let me tell you. But first let us take a look at what it literally could imply.

Imagine a mountain in the French Alps, one day decides to pick itself up and move to a new location. Try to imagine this giant of nature, walking through landscapes, cities and towns just to find a new location of rest. That is a lot of weight in one mountain.

Now imagine a human being is carrying our mountain buddy to a new location. Imagine the backbreaking weight the mountain has and try to imagine the strain of our human friend as he struggles to move his mountain...

Now that you are thinking about this, let me explain what the term actually means. When our friend is moving mountains he is trying his best to change himself, improve himself. Change, of any kind, is known to be difficult, hence a strong mountain, weighing an absolutely monstrous amount is being carried on his shoulders.

But what would happen if he took small stones from that mountain, the small things he needed to change, and moved them? It would be a lot easier, won't it? Hence, now we know what the full expression means, "One who moves a mountain (wants to change and improve) must start by moving small stones (doing things slowly and start small")

I want to be a better person
I want to improve me deeds
I want to start afresh
I want to turn over a new leaf

Yet, change is difficult
So many times, I have tried improving
But I keep falling, slipping and failing
In reality, am I really moving

I am so disappointed
So distressed, I can’t succeed
You best believe I have tried my best
Yet I cannot achieve

But now, my faith in me is a burning new
I have confidence in myself and the reason for it, I want you to know
Because somebody wise once told me
The man who moves a mountain
