Finally, Home - Poem
I was extremely inspired by this song and wanted to try and do what I always do, which is write a poem based on the lyrical concepts. I knew that, just like the song, I wanted the poem to echo the message of "Bring There" but I also wanted to make it a touch more personal.
Here is the concept in a nutshell. The poem is a sort of soul-to-soul between a father and his young teenage son. The son, who is going through a tough time spiritually, wants to live carefree and just chill out, while his father misses him terribly and desperately wants him to come home. Each stanza intertwines between father and son, each one penning their thoughts to the other, until the end, in which the son takes over our narrative.
This poem is a stand-alone sequel to my "Teenage Perspective" series.
I hope you enjoy it.
Please, also, do try and check out the amazing song the poem is based on. It will mean a lot to me.

Running through life, sometimes it’s
hard to hear,
The sound of your voice, though it’s loud and clear,
Distraction, pulled away,
I’ll come back soon, another day,
I’ll come home.
Getting dragged into the dirt, can’t be rid of the stain,
Despite my days washing away like rain,
Counting down, turning around,
Walking away from my house,
I’ll come home.
Please, come home,
Don’t leave me alone, wondering the dark roads,
Come home,
Let me embrace you like one of my own,
You are my child, as you always will be,
You belong here with me,
Please don’t turn away,
But come home to stay,
Please, come home,
Don’t leave me alone, wondering the dark roads,
Come home,
Let me embrace you like one of my own,
You are my child, as you always will be,
You belong here with me,
Please don’t turn away,
But come home to stay,
Don’t force me to live in pain,
How much more do I need to wait?
I know how hard it must be for you,
But tell me, father, what can I do?
Temptation, from all sides,
Eating me up alive,
I’ll come home.
I want to stay out here, where I feel free,
But your tears no more, I can’t bear to see,
I’ll make the change, rearrange,
Try hard next time, not to stray,
I’ll come home
Please, come home,
Don’t leave me alone, wondering the dark roads,
Come home,
Let me embrace you like one of my own,
You are my child, as you always will be,
You belong here with me,
Please don’t turn away,
But come home to stay,
Please, come home,
Don’t leave me alone, wondering the dark roads,
Come home,
Let me embrace you like one of my own,
You are my child, as you always will be,
You belong here with me,
Please don’t turn away,
But come home to stay,
Don’t force me to live in pain,
How much more do I need to wait?
Father, are you there, it’s me,
Open up, before they take hold of me,
Let me fall into your arms, once again,
Let me walk away from this awful trend.
I’ve decided, that enough is enough,
Tired of, the cold and the rough,
Need to feel your hand, so warm,
Re-connect the pieces that are smashed and torn.
I am home.
You’re no longer alone, wondering the dark roads,
I am home,
I know that I am one of your own,
I am your child, as I always will be,
It is the way it is, you and me,
I have not turned away,
But I’ve come home to stay,
I am home,
You’re no longer alone, wondering the dark roads,
I am home,
I know that I am one of your own,
I am your child, as I always will be,
It is the way it is, you and me,
I have not turned away,
But I’ve come home to stay,
No longer must you live with pain,
I am home, for real, no need to wait.
