Walking Towards The Horizon - Poem

I often find that if I am ever struggling to come up with ideas for a new poem, G-d, in his abundant and infinite kindness always sends me the perfect one, just when I need it. This cycle has repeated itself numerous times and has given me great comfort, allowing me to feel relaxed whenever I struggle to write a poem, as I know that I will get just the perfect idea at the perfect time.

This is one such poem.

I was struggling to come up with a good concept until the phrase "Walking Towards The Horizon" came into my head. As soon as that happened, I felt the cogs in my brain begin to turn and knew I had to give this one a try. Here is what I came up with.

Walking Towards The Horizon - Poem
As the sun begins to set,
On this one beautiful day,
I find myself staring into the distance,
Watching it, as it goes away.

I take note of the sky,
Collecting splashes of its many colors,
Separating the shades,
And appreciating as they blend, from one to another.

Getting up from my chair,
Taking a step or two, towards the glowing sun,
I want to hold on to this moment for as long as possible,
It's setting faster now, so I must run.

But if I run,
I feel as though this moment won't be viewed as it should be,
I might miss something if I pick up my pace,
So... I'll just walk, I think that will work best for me.

It's so peaceful,
Walking towards the horizon,
Just me, g-d and a glorious piece of nature,
What a beautiful sight to rest your eyes on.
