Warmth of the Candle - Poem
In honor of Shabbos Chanukah, I wanted to create a poem about the lights of the Menorah. I had some ideas to work with but ultimately chose the one you will read here. The concept behind this poem is that a young teenager who is out in the cold of the winter nights, is searching for a place to warm up and recover from the freezing temperatures. He eventually finds a small house where the flames of the Chanukah Menorah seem to welcome him in and allow him his rest.
Thank you to one of my subscribers who gave some time to listen to the poem and encouraged to share it, as I was quite unsure whether or not to do so.
I hope you are all enjoying your Chanukah so far.
May the light of our candles, help kindle the flame of the Geulah Shelema and may we merit the coming of Moshiach speedily, this year.
Have a fantastic and uplifting Shabbos Chanukah,
Your Friend,
Yitzy Schweitzer
In moment of darkness, I search for light,
To brighten up my path like the stars at night
And I call out to you, can you hear me?
Wondering through town, passed the houses and shops,
Try to search for open space to rest and stop,
To recover, to find some peace.
Suddenly, in one small window,
I see a place where I can go,
The soft dance of warm candlelight,
Beckons me in, offering an invite.
I want the door to open wide,
Want to be welcomed right inside,
Want to sit near that friendly glow,
From the cold outside, warm my soul.
Minutes go by, now, knocked on the door,
Walked inside, watched the cold begin to thaw,
Like wax, melting into the ground
Looked out through the window, for a very long time,
Until I felt my heart, from the flames, begin to shine,
My spirit, has once again, been found.
The night feel cold no longer now,
Thanks to the candles golden smile,
Dissolving the ice from of my heart,
Allowing me, a new start.
As I walk away, I keep with me,
That sweet image, I did see,
Hope to always remember the flames glow,
So I can be healed, when I’m alone
