A Rose Amongst A Thousand Thorns - Poem
At the end of my first term at college this past December, my headteacher asked me to write a poem about my experiences throughout those months. After some thought, a concept of "A Rose Amongst The Thorns" came into my mind and seemed to capture my feelings well enough, that although there were plenty of difficult days and moments of severe anxiety and stress, there were still those fleetingly beautiful moments, those moments of success and joy that I experienced.
I hope you enjoy the poem,

A Rose Amongst A Thousand Thorns - Poem
Walking in a garden,
Full of a thousand thorns
Trying my best to avoid their sting,
Quieten their voice of scorn.
I am trying to search for just one rose,
Which symbolizes a goodness I can find,
I need just one spark of light,
To push the darkness out of my mind.
I find one rose, in the middle of the field,
It’s bright red contrasting to the thorns brown,
I see the rose and I smile,
No need, anymore, to frown.
I will take my rose and care for it,
I want to see it grow, so tall and proud,
Life is good, the rose proves that,
If you’d only listen to it’s song, a soft and melodious sound.
