Reclaiming My Voice - Poem

The concept for the following poem you are about to read came to me just earlier this week, when I was listening to a podcast from filmmaker and social media personality, Meir Kay, in which he interviewed the public speaking coach, former broadcast journalist and Broadway child actor, Rosh Lowe, whose public speaking workshop, Mic Drop, has helped countless people tell over their own personal stories of the struggles, shortcomings and successes of their lives all the while, rebuilding confidence within themselves and reminding them they are not alone.

The podcast was titled "How to Reclaim Your Voice" and after seeing the title, than listening to the episode, I thought it would be a good idea to write a poem based on this powerful concept. I was further motivated to do so, when realizing the following.

This week celebrates two years of the blog. That's right. For over two years now, G-d has blessed me with the ability to share my innermost thoughts, concept and ideas and allowed my "voice" to be heard through my writings. I feel so much gratitude to Him for this, as I do to all of YOU - my readers, motivators, and supporters. Your dedication and appreciation for my writings has always been a source of inspiration to me and I cannot tell you how grateful I am to you ALL for it.

What better way than, I ask, to celebrate this blogs two year anniversary, then to write a poem all about using ones voice for the good?

Lets do that, shall we?

I hope you enjoy the read,

Thank you, once again for two years of inspiration!

Reclaiming My Voice - Poem
The rain is pouring down, mercilessly,
Drowning out my sound,
Silencing my voice, cutting me off,
Crushing my words to the ground.
I am standing here, staring as my voice fades,
Minimized by the thunders crash,
Is there a purpose for any of this,
Or is it but a meaningless splash?

But, now, suddenly,
My energy has returned,
The fire of my soul, reignited,
Out to smoke, now, it won't burn,
As hard as the rain wants,
He can try wash me away,
But I'll stay strong, stand tall and firm,
Try me again another day.

Cause, today is the day I am screaming,
As loud as I can,
I am gonna make sure you listen to me,
So, listen, than, while you can,
My words, they are pearls,
Delicate and special, you see
Let me have a shout at reclaiming my voice,
Allow me to say the thoughts I must speak.

The lightning is flashing,
Trying to blind me and strike me down,
But, the light and energy in my soul,
It seems it is to strong for lightning now,
Despite its best effort to scare me,
It just inspires me, with each flash,
A brilliant flash, is my flash of brilliance,
I guess you could even say, it's a smash.

So, let me shout my words, one more time,
Let me raise my voice strong,
Let my chant be heard for miles,
Watch, soon you will chant along.
The people will gather, in throngs upon many,
To sing along with me,
You don't believe that? Come on than come,
Tell me now what your eyes see.

Cause, today is the day I am screaming,
As loud as I can,
I am gonna make sure you listen to me,
So, listen, than, while you can,
My words, they are pearls,
Delicate and special, you see
Let me have a shout at reclaiming my voice,
Allow me to say the thoughts I must speak.
