Shabbos - Poem

As the memories of another inspirational Tisha B'av begin to find space within our soul, the feeling of joy leading up to Shabbos Nachamu is sensed within the air. From the tears of one of the saddest days of the year, to the smile of a Shabbos dedicated to comfort and peace, there is truly something heartwarming if we take a second to think about it.

While on Tisha B'a we are bereaved mourners, who try our hardest to understand and connect with the tragedy of so many years gone by, the loss of our Beis HaMikdash, the temple from which G-d's oneness radiated throughout the world, on the Shabbos right after, G-d himself sends us comfort, allows us to embrace the feeling of peace and stands with us, knowing how much we have tried to connect to him and believing in our ability to do our best for the future.

So, to put it simply, Shabbos Nachamu, is but a uplifting expression of G-ds unwavering love for us.

I hope you will enjoy this poem, which I wrote one afternoon a couple of weeks back. I felt it would be appropriate to share here now, as it was written with this day in mind.

Have a great week,

Shabbos - Poem
A week full of activities,
Is now ending in peace,
Hustle and bustle quietens,
A time for release.
As the candles glow and as the songs begin,
As the souls start to dance,
The time of Shabbos is back again,
To connect with G-d, this is now our chance,

The house, a glow in each room,
The clothes, pristine and crisp,
The souls elevated,
From G-ds hands we will never slip.

It is this gift, the gift of Shabbos,
Which we look forward to each week,
A time for splendid elevation,
Is what our souls ultimately seek.
A chance to bask in the Divine light,
Of our loving father, Hashem,
There is no gift that matches this one,
This is the best of them.

The shul is packed,
Voices by hundred sing to the king,
Thanking him for all he does,
For every single thing.
Brothers in harmony, nation uplifted,
A tune of hope and love,
The world is alive as the spirit awakens,
With this gift from above
