What Is Happiness? - Subscribers Poetry Inspiration 2023-24 - Poem 1

By now, I am sure my readers would have seen the announcement about the new "Subscribers Poetry Inspiration" idea. I hope the idea appeals to you and that you are excited to share with me any concepts you have, for me to create a poem out of.

As we are in the first month of the Jewish New Year, Tishrei, I wish to start the journey of "Subscriber Poetry Inspiration" with the one you will shortly be reading. I asked a very trusted subscriber for a idea to kick-start this series and thus, was sent back a great one.

It was suggested to me to write a poem about happiness. I liked the ambiguity and open-endedness of the concept, so I went with a simple, effective and well-proven strategy, to get the idea over the line. I hope you like what I came up with.
Once again, I wish to express my thanks to the Subscriber who was so willing to share the concept with me.

Best Wishes,
Yitzy Schweitzer
What Is Happiness? - Subscriber Poetry Inspiration 2023-24 Poem 1
Happiness is contagious,
A small ray of light in the rooms and chambers of sorrow,
Happiness is hope, a small reminder,
That there will be a better tomorrow.

Happiness is love,
A warm embrace on a cold night,
Happiness is family,
Sharing moments of incredible, to last your whole life.

Happiness is a decision,
The correct answer is yes,
Try be happy, even when it's difficult,
It will help you to pass any test.

Happiness is victory,
The feeling of elation after winning your war,
Happiness is that beloved opportunity,
That you answered when it knocked at your door.

Happiness is a helping hand,
A kind gesture to those who need it,
When kindness is done, both by you and to you,
That feeling, my friend, you know you love it.

Happiness is to help a stranger,
Put a sprinkle of sunshine into their day,
It is their smiling face, wishing you well,
As you embrace your new friend you made.

Happiness is no stranger,
It has been around for, oh boy, a long time,
In fact I am happy, because I finished this poem,
And I really love the way it rhymes.
