Lights - Subscribers Poetry Inspiration 2023-24 Poem 3

With Chanukah less than hours away as I write this, I am so excited to share with you the next chapter of the "Subscribers Poetry Inspiration" series. This poem, which was inspired by a prompt from a very dear subscribers, quite obviously takes its roots from the Chanukah candles. The idea to bring light into the world, the idea to spread G-dliness and hope throughout every corner, the idea to allow each holy Jewish flame of every persons Neshama, to burn with a intensity so warm and inspiring.

I hope that when you read this poem, you will feel the light of the world as its unfathomable power connects you to the landscape of inspiration and motivation.

A big thank you to the subscriber who suggested the idea. As a polite reminder, if any of you, my dear friends, would like to send me an idea, for me to turn into a poem, please do not hesitate to contact me in either of these two ways.

  • For those who have my number, you may do so that way, but please clearly state that you are sending the message to me as a "Subscriber Poetry Idea"
or
  • You can also send the idea to me by replying to any one of my blog emails, and writing at the start, "Subscriber Poetry Idea". You may also send me the concept, if you have my personal email with the notice message in the subject heading.

I want to wish you all an amazing Shabbos Chanukah,

I look forward to hearing from you, if you wish to send me an idea (but of course no pressure)

Your Friend,

Yitzy Schweitzer
Lights - Subscribers Poetry Inspiration 2023-24 Poem 3
Sparks fall to the ground,
On this freezing December night,
As we try to warm our souls,
With just a bit of light.
A little bit of hope,
Drives away the misery,
Turns colorless days,
Into moments of vibrancy.

As we strike matches,
One, another, one more,
That familiar feeling returns,
That feeling we felt before,
That old feeling,
That everything is going to be okay,
With the light of G-d,
We can live through another day.

Strangers come to our circle,
Enchanted by the magic of our light,
They want to be warmed, be loved, be embraced,
So we invite them in, to join the ride.
Arm in arm, had in hand,
Brothers in harmony, singing with love,
Just living with the feeling of hope,
A feeling of which we can’t get enough.

So tonight, won’t YOU join us,
Be inspired by our light, our fire, our sparks,
Feel the warmth of life, my dear brother,
Come, join us for a dance,
Dancing in the light,
Bringing out the beauty of being together,
Together, is how we survive,
It is our eternal light, now and forever
