The Unlocked Door - Subscribers Poetry Inspiration 2023-24 Poem 4
After reading that short, yet inspiring story, now its time for the poem that I wrote based on it. Obviously, you may already know what the concept of the poem is, however I still wanted to write an introduction to thank the dear subscriber whose beautiful idea helped inspire this poem.
I ask kindly, as I always do when sharing any poem for the Subscriber Poetry Inspiration series, if any of my dear subscribers have an idea for me that they wish to share so that I can turn it into a poem, if I connect with their idea, please do not hesitate to send me your concepts. I eagerly await them each month and it is a true highlight for me to open the creative floor to my subscribers to see what they have in mind for me.
With that out of the way, I humbly invite you to take a read of the poem.
Have a great week ahead,
Yitzy Schweitzer

The Unlocked Door - Subscribers Poetry Inspiration 2023-24 Poem 4
The door is closed,
As darkness falls tonight,
But despite the late hour,
Hope is still in sight.
Despite the door being closed,
It is never locked, not at all,
For every night, I leave it this way,
In case I hear his call.
This call is my sons
It's his voice I want to hear,
I haven't heard it in so long,
Each day seems a year.
But with every day that passes,
Still, I will never lock my door,
For I hope one day soon,
Things will be as they were before.
So I sit, one night and one more,
Hoping to hear the knob turn,
Wishing to see his face, hear his voice,
The door is always open, son, waiting for you to return.
