Bird's Wings - Poem
"Don't break a bird's wings and than tell it to fly".
I heard that quote while browsing through YouTube one evening this week. It stuck out to me as I felt there was something profoundly beautiful, emotional and gloriously poetic about it, both in in what it meant literally and metaphorically. To torment a poor defenseless bird by breaking its wings than telling it to fly is a so unbelievably cruel and harsh. Likewise, to torment a person for any reason and than expect said person to respect, love or simply even to trust or speak to you, is something that in this moment I don't feel qualified to accurately describe. So I won't. But I think my words above have spoken for me.
Anyhow, after hearing those beautiful words, my mind began to stir with ideas to turn them into a poem. I wasted no time and straight away got on to my laptop to begin the journey of composing the piece which I hope you will enjoy.
Have a great week ahead.
Best Wishes,

Bird's Wings - Poem
Don’t break a bird's wings,
Then tell it to fly,
When you know you’ve hurt it so,
To the point that it’s impossible to try.
Its lost all the confidence and joy,
It used to possess in abundance,
You hurt it and destroyed it’s soul,
Now it views flying as a hindrance.
It feels overburdened by this task,
A task it used to perform with glorious song,
But now the notes have gone off-key,
Now he can’t even sing along.
It is to afraid to even move,
Staying safe in its nest, on a lonesome tree,
Looking for love, for confidence it lost,
Calling out softly to you and me.
Its sad, lonely, tormented and scared,
But it is calling out, so try listen as you pass,
Hear the notes of the song it is trying to sing,
Give it some love, and maybe, just maybe, it will fly off, high, right off the branch.
