Eyes Closed - Poem
Pesach is the time when we celebrate our release from slavery in the land of Egypt. But its much more than that. Its a celebration of being chosen as G-ds nation. Its a realization of the powers that G-d showed single-handedly with the nature bending and logic defying ten plagues. Its the pure joy and baseless love, as we remind ourselves that this redemption was the start of the journey to Mount Sinai, where the world stood quiet, awed and still in the face of G-ds deliverance of the Torah to us, His nation who were in that moment, K'ish Echad B'lev Echad - completely united.
The concepts of unity and redemption served as the baseline for the poem you are about to read. Titled "Eyes Closed", it tells of a man, receiving a vision of the unity, at the time of our final redemption. Its a piece of encouragement, warmth and unity, filled with a truth known to many, accepted by those righteous, and lived by those who believe and love it.
That truth, this poem speaks of, is the secret of JEWISH UNITY.
Simply put: It is a unity that surpasses any other nations level. When Jews are truly united, we can achieve that which no other nation can even dream of.
Now, I will stop writing this introduction and leave you to read this poem.
Enjoy it,
Your Friend,
Yitzy Schweitzer
I have long seen this moment,
In the eyes of my mind,
I have searched for this second,
From but the beginning of time.
Nights of spring summer, winter and fall,
All seasons, I have waited,
Through sunlit skies and rain stroms,
The vision anew, was created.
Now even with my eyes closed,
I can see it all coming together,
A calm knowledge fills my soul,
We have taken the steps, towards a time they used to call forever.
We are so close,
It is just one kind deed away,
So reach out, give a hand,
To rush on the dawn of the new day.
The last night of hoping,
For tomorrow is my reality,
Even with my eyes closed,
I can believe in what they called a fantasy.
Let this new day, be the end of all tomorrow's,
For this night is the final part,
As the sun rises for a new morning,
The reality of unity, will only just start
Do you see it now, too?
Tell me, do you really?
Can you feel it?
This is our new world, a world for you and me.
