Distances - Poem

As many of my readers may know, I sometimes enjoy creating poems using titles of songs or musical pieces as a starting point or inspiration. I often find the ambiguity of creating a poem using that technique very interesting and over the few times I've tried it, I have written many beautiful, albeit simple, pieces.

This poem was inspired by a song title from the legendary motivational speaker, rapper, singer, composer and producer, Nissim Black. The song appeared as the closing track on his album "Gibor", and although I have not heard it properly despite it being out for quite a number of years, I still felt the title was interesting enough for me to have the helping hand from above to write this.

Distances - Poem

Breathing in,

Looking to the crowd,

Taking in the noise,

So passionate, so loud.

Horizons, peaks, mountains,

Anything is in the beyond,

I will run with G-d beside me,

He will encourage me on.

I will run the distance,

Into the distance far along,

No matter the twists, no matter the turns,

I will never give up, for within He makes me strong.

The unknown faces me,

But I face it right back,

This is now what u must do,

The goal is before me, I must attack.

Splendid sights,

Landscapes so astounding,

All this inspires me,

Together with the crowds cheer, resounding.

At the final turn,

Victory is mine, a gift from above,

The medal around my neck, raised high heavenward,

Because G-d is the Supreme, the only number one
