Portal of Time - Poem

I was in need for a poem this week and so I thought to try something new. I would let myself think of some words or phrases that just fell together, in order to figure out a concept I could work with.

G-d, in his infinite kindness, allowed me to think of science-fiction, which allowed me to think of a portal. That, almost poetically (haha, get it?) led me to think of time. Which got me thinking about time being connected to memories of the past and how the past in our lives is but a fragment, a window, into another time...

Boom! "Portal of Time" fell into my mind and I just got up and wrote whatever felt right and honest enough for a good poem.

I hope you enjoy the little read,

Blessings, always,

Portal of Time - Poem
The past is no longer here,
Yet the memories feel so vibrant,
Nostalgic embraces of sweet recollections,
Moments, precious, ageless, timeless.

The past is something I cannot touch,
Yet the thought of it touches me deeply,
Maybe the reason for that is,
Because the past in my mind, is just memories made for me.

There are nights, when I am sitting by the fire,
I am welcomed back into my mind,
Where but the sweetest of tales and priceless gems of old,
Are all that I find.
Going back to the times when I was carefree,
Just stepping into a moment, I left behind,
Revisiting it sometime later, an old friend it has become,
Found somewhere, in the portal of time.

Time is precious, a commodity,
Full of rich colors and patterns, unique,
I wish to tell some heartwarming tales,
Come, won't you take a peak?

For, although the moments are mine,
Some, if not many have been shared with friends<
On countless occasions, we speak of them together,
Replaying those memories, again and again.
