Blue Skies on a Rainy Day - Subscriber Poetry Inspiration 2023-24 Poem 12

A couple weeks back, I was looking for a new concept for the "Subscriber Poetry Inspiration" segment for the month of Av and reached out to one very dear fried, who is also a subscriber to ask him for an idea. He had one straight off the bat, that being, "Blue Skies on a Rainy Day".

Well, the idea seemed interesting and after a few minutes discussing the basis and foundation of the piece, I sat down to compose it. I am now sharing it with you, as we begin to close out on the month of Av, a month were we had so much suffering due to Tisha B'av and of course so much joy, due to Tu B'av. I hope this poem will show you, with its simplicity that even in trying storms and floods, a blue light of hope is always waiting to spread in the skies of life.

Blue Skies on a Rainy Day - Subscriber Poetry Inspiration 2023-24 Poem 12

Rain pours down, designing puddles on the ground,
Heavy drops fall, gray skies all around,
Over and over, this storm drown me in their waters so deep,
Losing hope, slipping away, losing faith in the promise He said He’d keep.

But looking towards the heavens, with my last, desperate breath,
I see a glimmer of hope and remember that G-d never forgets,
Hope means the slimmer of the blue sky,
Showing me that despite the darkness, cometh soon the light.

For soon the rain will stop,
After the clouds wash out every drop,
Blue skies, with the sun's warmth will spread,
Showing hope to the masses, from every stripe and blend.

Sometimes in life, the rain is pouring down,
Leaving us wondering, if the waters will dry, if a smile will come from the frown,
Alls we need, is to remember the blue,
Because here and now, blue means hope, coming to embrace me and you.
