Time For Effort - Subscriber Poetry Inspiration 2024-25 Poem 6
After some concept work, I finally overcame my writers block and started putting the words together. I decided to incorporate the concept from Pirkei Avos, "לא אליך המלאבה לנמור - It is not your responsibility to complete all the work". We know, that time is limited and there is much to be done, in terms of serving Hashem and learning Torah. We must try, yes, we must give it a tried-and-true attempt, but we may not despair if we don't complete everything we try and do.
Anyway, after some minutes, the finished piece was on my screen, ready to be shared with you. I hope you like it.
Since this post will be coming out on Purim, I imagine most of you will only read this post after Shabbos, so therefore I hope you had an enjoyable and motivational Purim. I hope you did not get to drunk. :)
All the very best,
Your Fried,
Yitzy Schweitzer
Time For Effort - Subscriber Poetry Inspiration 2024-25 Poem 6
Time rolls by,
Sands in the glass slip from my hand,
Opportunities flash before my eyes,
Grabbing them while I can.
There is so much to do,
In all 24 hours of the day,
But, don’t be discouraged if you cannot do it all,
No, my friend, don’t be dismayed.
For it is impossible to do everything,
But you must try your best,
It is not incumbent upon you to complete your task,
But it is your responsibility to attempt.
But don’t try to do your job,
With only a fraction of the effort,
Put some energy into your task,
Make the experience worth it.
Because, Hashem in heaven wants you to try,
He wants you to work at your best, every day,
Sometimes you’ll stumble, you won’t do it as well,
But that is well as you could have done it in that moment, so it’s okay.
Doing the mitzvos and learning Torah,
Is not supposed to be discouraging,
True, there is hard work and effort,
But, serving Hashem is so uniquely rewarding.
Because every word you learn,
Every good deed you do,
The reward you get both here and in heaven,
Is something quite interesting and special, I tell you.
You receive special reward,
But it’s not just for you,
You are a part of Am Yisrael,
We are counting on you.
Do what you can,
Put the effort in, and try your very best,
Each of us as one doing our part,
And Hashem, with all His love,
Will help us with the rest.
Hey before I leave, I’ll tell you a secret,
This is something pretty cool,
I struggled writing this poem, but I tried my best,
and Hashem let me finish it, just for you.
