The Calmness in the Air - Subscriber Poetry Inspiration 2024-25 Poem 7
I am writing this in the late morning hours on the first day of Chol Hamoed Pesach, excited to share with you the new "Subscriber Poem" for this month. I received an idea, yesterday, to write a poem about how after Yom Tov, the hustle and bustle of a regular working day, will be back in our lives and how until then we have this time to relax and unwind.
Based off that concept, I took half of it and wrote a poem based on the calmness one feels during these amazing festive times of the year. This is something I've felt many times during walks to shul on Yom Tov or at meals and I really do believe that this calmness is - as I write about it in the poem - of a spiritual kind. Not a spell cast by a wizard, but rather a spiritual calm sent down by Hashem, our Loving Father.
I hope you enjoy the poem
Have an amazing rest of your Yom Tov and if you are reading this after, I hope you had an amazing Yom Tov. :)
With Blessings,
Yitzy Schweitzer
There is a calmness in the air,
That comes around during our festivals,
Its a certain feeling, everyone connects to,
It seems perhaps, it is kind of magical.
Yet this is not a spell, cast by some powerful wizard,
Nor is it just something told in legends or false myths,
Yes, it is real, the feeling is true,
Every festival its comes, wrapped in joy, just like a gift.
What is it? What is this feeling,
If not magical, mythical, but still honest and true?
What other options are there for this to be?
Well, dear friend, stick around, I’ll tell you.
See I think it is a gift from G-d,
A gift rooted in fatherly love and deep spirituality,
For the air, the heart, the soul, the mind, feels elevated,
During these festive periods, G-d’s presence is felt, calling out to you and me.
Listen to the soft call, hear the voices of our father in heaven,
See how the world shines with light, for a deep knowledge is upon us,
Embrace the festivities and cling to the joy, please, join your fellow Jew,
Because, you can’t deny, you feel it, there is a love from G-d, in the air, for me and you.
