Love of the Eternal - Poem
The following poem was written on a whim, not planned, nor conceptualized at all. I just wanted to write a poem, something that I could connect to and began with one line. One line became another and another, until the first stanza was complete. Then came some rhythm. More lines followed. After some twenty odd minutes, a final product, a completed piece, one I am happy with and excited to share.
The concept behind the poem is that a young man is hoping to receive blessings, hoping for a better day, after having a rather difficult few past months. He prays to G-d and soon after, he is told to stay where he is and not to escape the situation. The situation, although bad and negative, is exactly where he needs to be in order for G-d to send him his greatest blessing.
As the poem progresses we find our narrator to be healing, as his belief in the Supreme Being, guides him through his days.
I hope you enjoy the full poem.
All the very best,
Your Friend,
Yitzy Schweitzer
Visions of light pass through my skies,
A silent breeze of hope is felt in a troubled mind,,
Wondering if the answer will ever come,
G-d tells me to stay and not ever run.
For despite the fact that He can give me,
Blessings no matter where I'd ever be,
He wishes for me to stay here,
Because where I am now, the blessings come complete and clear.
So, I pray once more, silently,
Promising G-d, I'll do as he asks of me,
I'll tap in to my belief,
Knowing by His word, His blessings I'll receive.
Despair shifts uncomfortably,
As fear tries to wrestle with me,
But I know it's only meant,
To try and pull me towards a darker descent.
But I will, now not give up, now not back down,
For the promise He made me still stands,
I am His son, He is my father,
I am solely, eternally in His hands,
He loves me, more than I understand.
Broken walls lie in ruins,
Trust shattered in the words of cuts and bruises,
The world seems not to care,
Yet, He in His love, is always there.
Never left me once behind,
Always guided me, planting comfort in my mind,
Stood near me as I prayed,
Hoping for a sunrise, a better day.
He promised better days will come,
I'd know them if I choose to believe in 'em
Opportunities will find me waiting,
If I would go find the route to where they are staying.
So, as trust built its walls back up,
My mind told me to listen to my heart,
I walked towards the newer dawn,
Finding who I really am, after the storm
Oh, today, thankful am I, grateful I am,
For He, the Eternal One,
So gracious and Kind, so true and serene,
The Giver, of everything to everyone,
He loves me, as a father to son.
