Ashen Sky - Poem
This one is special.
Coming off the excitement and creative energy of one of my favorite poems I have ever written - that one being my recent release "Afterglow" this one is special to me, maybe not on the same level as "Afterglow" but still it is special.
If you may cast your mind back just a few weeks ago, when I released that aforementioned poem, you may recall that I mentioned how I wrote it within the blogs' workspace, and not on a regular note on my phone or word document, which to me made the creative process a little more unique and exciting than it has been in a long time.
This poem is similar.
I heard the titular phrase in passing, while watching a video online, and something stuck out, something was calling me to write a piece incorporating and inspired by that phrase. As I began a draft on my phone, I felt that this one needed to be written in the blog workspace. I had felt so free and alive during the writing process for "Afterglow" and this poem felt like I needed to be in that space again.
After coming up with a new baseline, or in this case, title line, I ran with the inspiration towards my computer, fired up the workspace and got right on to it.
Now, I invite you to read what I came up with, which I sincerely hope you enjoy.
All the very best,

Ashen Sky - Poem
The flames ignite as the world is quiet,
Sleeping as the explosion sounds,
Darkened skies painted by fire,
Burning through fields, coming for my house.
Running out towards the angered blaze,
Stopping to watch it all fall apart,
Feeling nothing, it's just a living space after all,
My real home lies in my heart.
Won't you descend now, claim your throne,
As the world burns all around us,
Oh, Hashem, please bring us back,
To the home they could never, ever take from us.
You are our King, our Father, our Only One,
The crown belongs to You,
Won't the eagle emerge from the ashen sky,
From the flames, into a world anew?
As the heat sweeps over what once I held dear,
The emptiness, real, it still remains,
As I wait for the the dawn, the dawn I want,
It's arrival should be now, no longer can I wait.
Sparks design, paint the sky,
Adorn it with bright flashes and flickers,
But still, I wait, feeling the moment slip,
As time teases me, twists around into the distance.
Won't you descend now, claim your throne,
As the world burns all around us,
Oh, Hashem, please bring us back,
To the home they could never, ever take from us.
You are our King, our Father, our Only One,
The crown belongs to You,
Won't the eagle emerge from the ashen sky,
From the flames, into a world anew?
We know, Yeshuat HaShem KeHerif Ayin,
Salvation could come in the blink of an eye,
But, G-d I look to You, to await our eagle,
Hoping to see it emerge, from the heights, flames and ashes of the sky.
Its wings, flashing with youthfulness,
Its eyes, sharp and mindful,
As we fly together, as one loving unit,
To the place we know, as home, our ancestral and eternal.
