Sealed - Poem
With Rosh Hashana now complete, we take the inspiration of the High Holy Days forward on to Yom Kippur. It is on this upcoming day, where we once again come as a nation, as one people, to beseech Hashem, the Supreme Being, to seal us and our loved ones in the book of life. In the book of health. In the book of wealth. In the book of blessing, redemption, and merit.
I sat down late after Motzei Rosh Hashana to write a poem about this uplifting and moving day. I approached it with the title of "Sealed" - that of course being how, as previously mentioned we ask Hashem to seal us and all our loved ones, in the book of life. I tried to allow myself to just "run away with the poem" - just to let the emotions and concept to do the talking and see what I can come up with.
I hope I did the concept justice and I hope you will enjoy reading the complete piece.
May Hashem bless all of us, with a great, glorious and peaceful year, a year of joy, hope, happiness and success.
May we all be sealed in the book of life. Good Life.
It is this that I bless you,
All the best,
Yitzy Schweitzer

Sealed - Poem
Written by the Hand of G-d,
Our names glow and shine,
Sparkling with light, beauty, and grace,
Radiating, so refined.
All we ask is for a good year,
Redemption, this year be it's time,
We ask that you remember us,
As you seal us in the book of life.
All the prayers, tears, and crying,
May it not go to waste,
Let in not be rushed,
Let it not be said in haste,
Let our minds be sharp,
Our voice be clear and strong,
Let us praise you with humility,
As we sing for you our song.
Some of us, it's true, we've stumbled,
But we've tried to rise again,
Some of us, have been stagnant,
Not moving around the bend.
If only we took just one small step,
Towards a better self,
Just one step may change us,
Take us on the journey towards our best.
But still, we hope to be,
Written by the Hand of G-d,
Our names glow and shine,
Sparkling with light, beauty, and grace,
Radiating, so refined.
All we ask is for a good year,
Redemption, this year be it's time,
We ask that you remember us,
As you seal us in the book of life.
How much is too much?
How long until the end?
Despite our tries, why must we fail,
Again and again?
Why every year
Does Mashiach still not arrive?
Even when we keep waiting,
Even why our best we try?
Bit still, this does not mean,
This year, we will fail again,
This year will be special, be different,
It won't be the same,
This time, next year, on this holy day,
We will join as one assembly,
With the Beis Hamikdash, in Mashiachs time,
In Your Holy City.
Oh, until then, we ask to be,
Written by the Hand of G-d,
Our names glow and shine,
Sparkling with light, beauty, and grace,
Radiating, so refined.
All we ask is for a good year,
Redemption, this year be it's time,
We ask that you remember us,
