Goodnight Abba - Poem

As the night descended upon us on Hoshana Raba, the world waited with baited breath. An excited buzz was circling throughout the hearts and souls of the Jewish People as they counted the literal seconds until the hostages would be returned to the embrace of their families.

It was a day that we had been waiting for FOR TWO YEARS.

Two years of pain, two years of sorrow, two years of prayers, two years of tears.

But now they were coming home.

That night I saw a post which stated that every night since that day in October 2023, Roni & Alma Miran, the children of the hostage Omri Miran, would go outside and whisper under the moonlight...

"Good night Daddy Omri..."

A prayer of four words, four words conveying everything, every hope, every dream, every lonely night, every tear... everything wrapped up in the angelic whisper of two beautiful little souls, wishing their loving father, a good night.

The post continued and said,
"Today, they said it for the last time 'בעזרת ה,
May tomorrow be the day their prayers are answered..."

They were answered. Omri Miran Is Home.

But in a quiet moment, on Hashana Raba night, a stillness was around me, as I began to write the words to the poem you are about to read. A poem inspired by the whispers, prayers, longing of love, from two children to their father. A poem of hope, connection, unsaid prayers, a poem of love, written from the stillness, from a quiet part of the soul, a part of the soul that connects you to people, simply because they are your brothers and sisters... your family.

I hope you enjoy the reading of this poem,

All the best,

Goodnight, Abba - Poem

Goodnight, Abba,
I hope you can hear me,
I wonder if you feel my heartbeat,
Even though you are not here with me.

Goodnight, Abba
I know you are far away,
But in my heart, you're still here,
Although, I know you'll come home someday.

Goodnight, Abba,
We hope you find comfort in your pain,
We know you're hurting, we know it's tough,
But we will always pray for you, giving merit and light to your name.

Goodnight, Abba
The stars shine brighter now, just a bit,
As though the stars are your heart,
I wonder, if perhaps despite your pain, my voice, you can hear it.

Goodnight, Abba,
Tonight, we say it to the stars for the last time,
Because until now the distance separated us,
But soon, our hearts, like the sun, will shine.

Good morning, Abba,
No longer to the distances and pain keep us apart,
For now, you're here with us again, alive,
Tonight your hug and kiss to us, will warm our hearts.
