The Angel in You - Poem

The following poem is by far one of the most excruciating pieces I've worked on in recent times, as I had to spend what was almost a full 24 hours writing it. Based on a song title I found on Wednesday night, I wrote a rough version of the poem that night, before recognizing some very overarching flaws with its production and overall story and feel. I knew I would have to come back and redo it the next day.

Well, that is what I did. From the early afternoon on Thursday, I started the redevelopment and re-writing process, trying to bring out the true message and feel that I originally had in mind. It took many long hours including even many where I thought about putting the poem off to the side and sharing it at a latter date.

But I did not want to give up. Something told me that the piece would end of up complete in time to share it. The poem felt to special to not complete. So, after almost a full 24 hours of writing and developing, the final, finished product is now here.

Allow me to present, "The Angel in You".

I hope you enjoy it.

Have a brilliant week ahead,

Your friend,

The Angel in You - Poem

Standing out under the night,
Feeling lost and confused,
Time passes in wasted moments,
With nothing feeling right or true.
Seems like life has become monotonous,
Just time with the colours drawn out,
What once gave joy, now just feels empty and dull,
Stuck in this heartbreaking loop, I just want to cry out.

As the temperature drops and my tears start to fall,
I am just wishing for someone to take me home,
A stranger, a friendly face, just one kind soul,
Is there anyone out there, who can help me feel less alone?
Time moves steadily along, leaving me behind,
As the breeze carries each second away into emptiness and untruth,
Losing strength as my hopes burn away into ash and burnt embers,
All I am asking for, is an act of kindness, from someone like you.

As the rains and thunders pour down their fury,
The cars drive hurriedly by as if they could not care,
They don’t see me waiting, they don’t acknowledge me,
It’s as if I am invisible, not even there.
But then amongst all of the noise and chaos,
One man reaches out his hand in a simple gesture of his own,
With what seems to be my last burst of strength,
I quietly ask if perhaps, he somehow can take me home.

Why does the world seem so broken,
When kindness is one of its foundations?
Why do people seem so afraid to ask for help?
When the soul weeps for the embracement?
Sometimes, on nights like these,
When I am looking for someone kind,
I turn to G-d, and He sends me you,
For you are a person with a soul that is kind.
We may never have met otherwise,
We may have never crossed path, me and you.
I don’t know who you are, but I am with you.

As the temperature drops yet more and my tears start to dry,
Someone out there has come to take me home,
A stranger, a friendly face, just one kind soul,
There is finally someone out there, who can help me feel less alone.
Time moves steadily along, the memories of pain, I leave behind
As the breeze carries each second forward into moments freedom anew,
Gaining strength as my hopes burn into a calm and warm flame,
A silent prayer of thanks to G-d for the act of kindness performed by the messenger chosen by You.
